Sarah's Story

Condition
Long COVID
At worst
Severe (mostly bedbound)
Ill for
1 year
Published
2022

Summary

Sarah tried an extensive list of treatments without full success: many hyperbaric oxygen sessions (costing "thousands" and giving only temporary relief before triggering relapses), acupuncture, kinesiology, diet changes, breathing exercises with osteopaths, steroid and reliever inhalers, mushroom powders, NAC, glutamine, and tonics, with low-dose naltrexone and "blood washing" still under review at time of writing; no doses are specified for any of these. She had been severely ill for about a year after contracting COVID in July 2021, describing "a veil of fatigue that consumes my whole body." She now has "good days" that let her work and parent, but she explicitly says recovery has "not been linear" and remains incomplete. The hyperbaric oxygen specifically is flagged as having caused relapses rather than lasting benefit.
