Summary
The regimen for Celandine's daughter included daily liquorice root powder and salt in plant milk, weekly-then-tapering Perrin Technique osteopathy (including breast lymphatic massage), the POTS medications ivabradine and midodrine with salt tablets and 2 liters of water daily, ultramicronised PEA (Normast brand) at 600mg morning and 600mg evening for about 10 weeks then tapered, a quarter-dose of Diamox (acetazolamide) for a few days for intracranial pressure, continuous birth control to stop her periods, and later nattokinase at 8000FU/day for surgical adhesions. She fell ill at age 14-15 with sore throats, extreme fatigue, stomach pain and worsening headaches after a residential orchestra weekend, and was moderate-to-severe and mostly bedbound for over two years. By age 21 she was at university in London living with friends, no longer met the diagnostic criteria for ME, had no post-exertional malaise and good restorative sleep, and worked long hours at a part-time pub job, later recovering from COVID the same way her healthy peers did. The recovery has held but is maintained rather than cured outright -- she stays on her POTS medications long-term and uses PEA again during occasional POTS flares.
