Summary
She recovered after listening to a Nicole Sachs podcast and then beginning expressive writing about her feelings, which she says produced an 80% drop in symptoms that same day, followed two weeks later by starting Dr. Howard Schubiner's Mind Body Program and reading Dr. John Sarno's books, alongside five minutes of gentle daily e-bike riding; occupational therapy, physiotherapy breathing exercises, Chinese herbal medicine, and massage had all been tried earlier without success. She fell ill in March 2020 with a cyclical pattern of relapsing symptoms that worsened over the following year, eventually becoming so limited she was browsing classified ads for a wheelchair and could be bedridden for three days after a short walk. Two weeks after starting the Mind Body Program she says she had eliminated 95% of her symptoms, writing "I'm back at work and doing everything again, and more." Only tinnitus remains as a residual symptom as of writing. When she tested positive for COVID again in September 2021 she was ill for only one day and recovered fully within days, which she credits to the same mindset that "there was still nothing fundamentally wrong with my body," and describes her ongoing practice as consciously acknowledging stress and negative emotions rather than pushing them away.
