Summary
Started Famvir at 500mg three times daily, gradually titrating up, and by three to four months noticed cognitive and physical improvements herself, with her family remarking on the change and her daughter saying she was "getting her mom back." Brain fog, initially "horrible," became "a distant memory" on many days. After 18 months she added Valcyte for a further step up in function, though by a 2016 follow-up (over three years in) dose reductions had brought some worsening, and she still qualified the overall gain: "I still think cognitively things are better" but "I don't feel like I am back to normal."
