Filgotinib (JAK1 inhibitor) - future of CFS/ME treatment
- Condition
- ME/CFS
- At worst
- Moderate (mostly housebound)
- Ill for
- 3 years
- Published
- Sep 2025
Summary
Took filgotinib 200mg for three days in early 2023, after about three years of suspected ME/CFS that at its worst left him housebound, able to walk ten minutes before needing hours of rest and to sit upright only twenty minutes at a stretch while working from home. Within a week of the three-day course he flew overseas on minimal sleep, stood all day, danced at a wedding and travelled again without needing to rest, and he describes his illness as essentially cured. He now works full-time in an office, goes to the gym several days a week and has taken up personal projects. The effect is not permanent: he repeats three-to-five-day booster courses whenever symptoms return after prolonged exertion or stress, and now takes ruxolitinib instead of filgotinib for these.
