I just "graduated" from a GET/CBT therapy at the Mayo Clinic. Ask me anything!
- Condition
- ME/CFS
- At worst
- Severe (mostly bedbound)
- Ill for
- 6 years
- Published
- Apr 2017
Summary
Completed a 3-week, daily 8am-5pm CBT/GET program at the Mayo Clinic combining graded light resistance work, aerobic pacing and forced sensory exposure. Came out able to walk again and "moderately prepared" to think about returning to work, crediting part of it to reversing deconditioning and to CBT for coping rather than to any cure. He is explicit and repeated about the limits: "I am in NO way in recovery, just able to cope a bit better," and "I am in NO WAY in remission" -- so by his own account this is functional coping, not illness resolution.
What they credit
Credits CBT & mindset, Pacing, CBT and psychotherapy, Pacing and the energy envelope.
