Summary
Ariel Conn's recovery centered on mind-body approaches: Claritin as one of only two things that helped in her first 18 months, then somatic meditations, Nicole Sachs' JournalSpeak journaling method starting December 2021, somatic and Internal Family Systems "parts work" therapy via Dr. Howard Schubiner's course, Alan Gordon's somatic tracking technique, and Kristin Neff's self-compassion practice. She was sick for a year and a half starting July 2020, and at her worst in December 2021 was bedridden and could only tolerate about five foods. By late spring 2023 she was physically active and traveling internationally for work, and she now describes herself as "fairly symptom free" aside from minor irritations. She says maintaining this requires a "fairly regular JournalSpeak process" and continued use of these techniques rather than the gains holding on their own.
