Summary
Wishful found that eating about 2-2.5 teaspoons of ground cumin before strenuous exertion (2+ hours of chainsaw work) blocked PEM entirely for roughly 8 days of continued heavy activity, before the effect abruptly stopped working, as it had once before after weeks of daily use. Separately, a 14-strain probiotic (2 capsules morning and evening) restored her ability to eat fermentable fiber and gave her enough energy for long hilly hikes, with the fiber tolerance persisting even 2 weeks after stopping the probiotic; she has also used low-dose naltrexone for pain. Both remedies gave real but partial, non-durable or symptom-specific relief rather than a cure.
