Summary
Began with nine twice-monthly hospital infusions of IV valacyclovir, then moved to Valcyte (valganciclovir) at 450mg, two tablets twice a day, continuing through May 2015 until she started regressing after switching to a generic version of Valcyte introduced in January 2015 that didn't work as well for her. In July 2015 Valtrex (valacyclovir) at 500mg, three tablets four times a day, was added while Valcyte was cut to once daily. She had been sick with CFS/ME since 1995 or earlier and was rated a 2 on Dr. Lerner's energy scale as of January 2014. On the combined regimen she reached a consistent 8, with some days at 9, and remained on the protocol with no relapse reported.
