Summary
Marilyn, once an avid cyclist and graduate student, developed ME/CFS suddenly in the early 1990s and worsened to nearly housebound. After more than 22 years she credits sleep medications and a stressful New Zealand trip that forced her to push through post-exertional malaise, framing her illness partly as an overactive stress response. She now walks two miles daily and calls herself much improved, while noting she still has lingering symptoms.
